Weigh up boiler cover cost considerations
Adequate boiler care is growing increasingly important in the face of surging fuel prices, it has been suggested.
Price comparison specialist Paul Schofield issued his observation after the launch of energy provider npower's One initiative, which provides customers with a fixed-price product and basic boiler cover.
Mr Schofield, from moneysupermarket.com, pointed out that the scheme costs £230 more than the firm's SOL10, which is currently the cheapest product on the market.
"Customers need to weigh up whether the fixed price until August 2009 and the boiler cover are worth the extra cost," he advised.
"The cover is basic, not including pipework, radiators, radiator valves, expansion tanks or hot water cylinders," he continued.
Mr Schofield went on to emphasise that recent "inflation-busting" price hikes have made finding the best energy deal imperative.
Heating specialists often recommend that homeowners buy their boiler insurance and energy separately.
Meanwhile, leading firms such as Baxi are known to provide comprehensive cover packages with their boiler products.
