New gas service for private landlords offers savings of over 60%

Progress Property Services is launching a new gas safety service for private landlords in the North West that will undercut the leading supplier by over 60% at a national exhibition this week. (w/c 9/06/08)

Progress Plus for Landlords builds on the success of the current Progress Plus service for domestic customers, which was launched in late 2006 and now maintains heating systems thousands of Lancashire homes.

The new service will be officially unveiled at the Landlords and Buy to let Show Manchester, on the 13th-14th June 2008.

The Leyland-based organisation, a division of Progress Housing Group, is launching its landlord scheme in response to customer demand for a locally-managed, competitively priced service that provides reputable, qualified and reliable engineers.

Landlords signing up to the new service can benefit from a boiler maintenance contract and gas safety certificate on all gas appliances from £11.99 per month.

At £14.99, the full heating maintenance contract includes the boiler, radiators, external controls and the hot water tank - a saving up to £287 on an equivalent contract offered by British Gas.

The service ensures that heating systems are in tip-top condition and covered for parts and labour in the event of breakdown and repair. The contract also includes an annual safety check as standard; a potentially life saving measure against faulty gas systems and a legal requirement for all landlords.

Director of Progress Property Services, Gary Sanderson, said: "This is great news for the rental market where both tenant safety and profit margins are a priority. The new service offers a significant discount on the leading competitor's product without comprising on the importance of gas safety and meeting the legal obligations of landlords.

"Since its launch, Progress Plus has really taken off and we're extremely pleased to be in a position to extend the service. Landlords can now be protected from the financial consequences and inconvenience of a faulty heating system and have peace of mind that they are compiling with strict legislation on gas safety at a minimal monthly cost."

The division, which is not-for-profit and has a turnover of over £10 million, has a specialist team of Corgi registered engineers currently looking after 10,000 heating systems in homes across Lancashire.

The team maintains over 4,500 boilers in rented properties in South Ribble alone. All proceeds from the venture will be invested back into social housing and communities.
