GAS LEAK MADE SAFE
A Perthshire flat at the centre of a gas leak had been issued with a safety certificate, it was revealed yesterday.
A total of 17 adults and children had to be evacuated from their homes in the Muirton estate after an internal pipe burst on Sunday night.
A Perth and Kinross Council spokesman confirmed that a landlord's gas safety certificate was issued for the property on August 14 and no leaks or defects were noted. The cause of the leak was put down to the internal pipe being knocked.
The council was liaising with Transco and Scotia Gas Networks yesterday, to have the supply reinstated as soon as possible.
