Dimplex sets cosy mood for Heathrow travellers

Dimplex heating expertise has been harnessed to keep passengers toasty in the premium executive lounges of Heathrow airport's new terminal five.

Buildingtalk reports that the firm's SP9 Optiflame fires are the focal points in the lounges, selected by British Airways' design team for their aesthetic as well as their economical qualities.

Gary Ranns, the head of design for the airline's new global lounge concept, explained to the publication that Dimplex fires were chosen to complement what is "one of the major design projects of the decade".

"The Dimplex SP9 fires met our criteria almost as if they were designed for us, as we can keep the flame effects lit without heat year round, ensuring we maintain the right mood for discerning travellers," he said.

Located in the new £4.3 billion terminal's 'galleries' complex, Dimplex now has a place in what has been deemed the largest and most luxurious such facility in the world, accessible only to the British Airways' "top tier" passengers.

An expert in the commercial as well as the domestic heating arena, Dimplex recently claimed that it is "cracking the code" for sustainable homes by providing heat pump installer training for plumbing and heating professionals.
