Dead teacher neighbour worried about gas boilers
A neighbour of Elouise Littlewood, a dance teacher found dead after a suspected carbon monoxide leak, said she has still not been issued with a certificate for work done to her boiler.
Celia Jones’ flat in Wooldridge Close, Bedfont, is directly above where 26-year-old Elouise lived, and she is worried about using the boiler without being sure it is safe.
Elouise died on February 27, and her housemate Simon Kilby, 32, remains seriously ill in hospital.
Notting Hill Housing Association, which manages the flats, said it would carry out comprehensive safety checks and issue all residents with carbon monoxide detectors.
Ms Jones said: “They did all the boiler work and the British Gas guy came and inspected it and said it was all fine, but we still haven’t got a certificate.
“I’ve heard a boiler is not even meant to be on if you haven’t got a certificate to say it is safe.”
Rachel Bhageerutty, of Notting Hill Housing Association, said new installations had been awarded a gas safety certificate but the paperwork was still being compiled and will be given to residents “very soon.”
