Computer game to train plumbers

Trainee plumbers have been offered the chance to train using a computer game style piece of software that has been rolled out by Train4Trade Skills.

A virtual reality house has been created by Train4Trade Skills which allows plumbing students to practice skills at no risk to the public.

The company aims to assist those wishing to train as plumbers by providing a "blended learning process" by combing PC study, practical workshops and written theory.

Mike Head, marketing manager for Train4Trade Skills said : "The 'virtual house' has been enormously successful in helping students by giving them excellent visual recall of the steps necessary for the skill they are about to undertake."

The company also added that students were less likely to make mistakes in the real world after training on the software.

Boiler manufacturer Baxi recently relaunched its training website in the hope that it will make it easier for installers to find a training centre.
