Complying with green building rules is easy, says Dimplex
Heating specialist Dimplex has offered some tips for construction firms keen on reducing their projects carbon emissions.
Don Newman, the firm's heating design manager, claimed that the government's Part L building regulation "is no more difficult to achieve" with electric heating than with any other fuel.
He pointed out that Dimplex often provides telephone support to professionals seeking advice on sustainable building techniques.
"We can also advise on renewable energy sources such as solar thermal water heating or heat pumps, which can make a significant and cost-effective contribution towards reducing carbon emissions and attaining a Part L pass," he remarked.
Some tips offered by Mr Newman included the installation of solar hot water solutions, as they can provide up to 60 per cent of a property's water heating needs without the need to alter other elements of a building.
He also suggested that reducing hot water cylinder capacity would lead to carbon savings, while improving 'air tightness' can reduce the number of pipes and holes required in building fabric.
As well as a wide range of heat pumps, Dimplex provides electronic panel heaters with central controls and the DuoHeat radiator aid, which also aid compliance with Part L
