CORGI shortlisted for new HSE scheme

CORGI shortlisted to run the HSE gas registration scheme for the next five years from 2008
Ian Powney, CORGI's Chief Operating Officer, said: 'This is really great news'. 'CORGI looks forward to bringing forward lots of new ideas to improve gas safety from next year, to the benefit of both consumers and installers across the industry'. 'We plan to further remove illegal gas workers from the market; they are causing the lion's share of carbon monoxide poisoning incidents'.

'We also want to enhance consumer awareness of the need to use registered installers and the risks in using cowboys'.

'And our enhanced scheme will involve even greater support for installing businesses, working closer with both industry and consumer stakeholders'.

The HSE has not revealed any other details of shortlisted bidders.
