Brighton flat flushes out competition with toilet quirk

A Brighton flat has gone on sale with an innovative bathroom feature to attract potential buyers - its toilet is on the balcony.

Furthermore, the Hanover Street property's bath is situated in the kitchen, featuring a hinged worktop to save space and resources.

The Brighton Argus reports that the four-room flat is expected to fetch between £100,000 and £130,000 at auction next month.

Auction manager Nick Muston, of estate agents Austin Gray, told the paper that the property is simply "an extraordinary place".

"I couldn't quite believe it when I went inside. I've been in about 15,000 properties in my career as an auctioneer and I've never before come across a property with a bath in the kitchen," he quipped.

Mr Muston pointed out that the balcony toilet is the only one serving the building, which is believed to date from the 1820s.

Brighton's quirky sale does not quite match South Korea's "toilet house", unveiled last year to mark the launch of the World Toilet Association.

The concrete and glass sanitary-themed structure was built by Sim Jae-Duck, who was born in a restroom and now campaigns for cleaner toilets worldwide.
