Boiler repairs and heating improvements offered in Brent
New central heating systems and boiler repairs are some of the free green perks being offered to residents of a London borough.
Local authorities in Brent are working alongside a charity and non-for-profit company in order to help residents bring down fuel bills and maximise their energy efficiency.
Energy Solutions and London Warm Zone will help with the installation of new insulation, visiting individual houses to offer advice and grants toward boiler repairs.
Martin Cheeseman, Brent council's director of housing and community care, pointed out that as energy prices are expected to keep rising, all residents should take advantage of the offer.
"This is a great opportunity for people to make improvements to their homes - cavity wall insulation is one of the most energy-efficient home improvements you can make and can cut fuel bills by up to 30 per cent," he said.
Under the scheme, private tenants and homeowners could receive up to 75 per cent off the cost of installing insulation or fixing a boiler, while benefit recipients or those over the age of 70 could have heating work carried out for free.
Eco-experts emphasise that homeowners can prolong the life of their boiler with regular servicing.
