BRITISH GAS TAKES THREE ATINDUSTRY AWARDS



British Gas took three awards at the SBGI/IGEM Gas Industry Awards lunch at the London Hilton Hotel on Tuesday, 8th May.

A member of the Heating and Hotwater Industry Council, British Gas won the awards for Gas Industry Customer Service and Gas Industry Energy Efficiency and a Special Award For Outstanding Services To The Gas Industry.

The Customer Service Award went to the Housing Services Group at British Gas
For outstanding customer service in achieving all 11 performance criteria, 99% tenant satisfaction, fitting 16,000 Energy Efficiency Systems in record start up time and excellent communication with tenants and client Leeds City Council.

The award was sponsored by Domestic and General and presented by Iain Spicer, National Account Director. Mark Hampson, National Account Team Manager and Claire Greenhalgh, Area Contracts Manager collected the award.

Stuart Margerrison, Head of Housing Services Group said:
“We were stunned and delighted to receive the award for Customer Service in recognition of the central heating work undertaken on behalf of Leeds City Council over the past 4 years. British Gas working with our partners - Ideal boilers, Sentinel, Honeywell and PTS have together delivered real improvements in the quality of life tenants in Leeds which is a great success story of which we are all very proud.

The Energy Efficiency Award went to an individual Chris Conant from the British Gas Engineering Academy. He was nominated for designing and producing a computer-based training package for engineers. Also sponsored by Domestic and General, the award was presented by Doug Garnham, Director of Sales.

On winning his award, Chris said: I was naturally very pleased to collect the Energy Efficiency award from the SBGI/IGEM in recognition of the development of this programme by the British Gas Engineering Academy team.

The Special Award For Outstanding Services To The Gas Industry went to Chris Bielby, Head of Business Integrity, British Gas. The judges said:

“This individual has an outstanding track record in leading numerous safety initiatives on a national basis, has campaigned passionately to reduce the number of carbon monoxide incidents and has directed and led a very successful programme of inspirational leadership events.

He has made an effective contribution to the fundamental Gas Safety Reviews over the last twenty years, which has necessitated gaining support and contributions from leading industry executives, Ministers and key government agencies.

Special mention is warranted for the help, support and guidance that he gives to carbon monoxide support groups. The winner has built a reputation as one of Britain's most respected and influential gas industry leaders
