B&Q Launch First Retail Deaf alarm
Deaf and hearing impaired alarm.
With 9 million people registered as deaf or hard of hearing in the UK and a further 4 million losing their hearing but doing nothing about it, the smoke or carbon monoxide alarm aisle in DIY stores was of little or no use to a substantial percentage of the UK population leaving them at serious risk. Expensive hardwired solutions can be tracked down in specialist stores but thanks to Wi-Safe from FireAngel an affordable wireless system is now on the shelves of B&Q and available to the mass market.
The Wi-Safe vibrating alarm can be placed underneath a pillow or cushion and will vibrate powerfully in the event of a fire or carbon monoxide leak. When a Wi-Safe Smoke Alarm or Wi-Safe Carbon Monoxide Alarm is triggered they instantly transmit a signal to the vibrating alarm, which will vibrate until it has woken those in danger.
Graham Whitworth, CEO, FireAngel commented: “With the Wi-Safe Vibrating Alarm we are hoping to help those most vulnerable to the results of a fire or carbon monoxide leak in the home. Not only could this help the deaf and hearing impaired but also heavy sleepers, such as the elderly or children.”
